Forget Me Not

Healing from Grief is not about forgetting…

Cathy Fisher, LCSW has been a practicing social worker for 29 years. She received her MSW degree at George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St Louis. She worked for 9 years at Calvary Hospital, Bronx New York starting out as a clinical social worker and then Assistant Director of Social Work.  Though her primary role was to assist individual patients and their families in coping with dying she developed the first hospital wide Family Discussion and Support Group program designed specifically for the family members coping with a loved ones impending death. She then moved on to work at The Jewish Home for the Elderly in Fairfield, Ct as Assistant Director of Social Services.  She continued to expand on her work in bereavement by developing a support group for Leo P. Gallagher & Sons Funeral Home in Stamford, Ct as well as providing bereavement groups for Jewish Family Service in Bridgeport, Ct. Though her area of expertise had been primarily helping adults deal with grief she has spent the past 9 years as Program Director for The Caring Network for Grieving Children and their Families in Milford, Ct through Bridges and Cody White Funeral Home helping children who have experienced a death in their family in a safe and supportive group program. Additionally, she has expanded her practice to provide bereavement service to area schools for both consultation and group programs.

Cathy currently maintains a private clinical practice in Trumbull, Ct that specializes in counseling individuals dealing with all issues surrounding death and dying.
